Breast Reduction
Women with very large pendulous breasts tend to have
neck and shoulder pain. Breast reduction effectively reduces the breast
size and weight, helping the patient enjoy a more active and comfortable
lifestyle. It also helps to relieve some of the symptoms related to
the size of the breasts.
Procedure:
Incisions are made following the natural contour under the breast and
around the areola and then fatty tissue in the breasts with some of
the glandular tissue and excess skin area are removed, then the breasts
can be pulled tighter making them smaller, lifted and firmer. This is
generally performed under general anesthesia.
Recovery:
After surgery the patient is wrapped in an elastic bandage, depending
on the size of the reduction, it is often performed as an outpatient.
The patient may have a drain placed for a few days to allow excess fluid
to drain from the incision. Recovery is expected within two weeks. There
will be postoperative pain that is easily controlled with medication.

GYNECOMASTIA
This is enlargement of the male breasts, which may affect
one or both breasts. For men who feel self conscious about their oversized
breasts this procedure can help restore their self confidence and appearance.
Procedure:
Gynecomastia is corrected by removing excess breast tissue through a
small incision or by liposuction. Your doctor will discuss your candidacy
for the choice of the procedure depending on the size of your breasts.
Recovery:
The procedure is often performed as an outpatient. A compression garment
is used postoperatively to minimize swelling. There will be minimal
postoperative pain that is easily controlled with medication.
