Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation can enhance your appearance and help build your self confidence and improve your self image. The best candidates for breast augmentation are women with small breasts, lack of natural proportion with chest size and over all physique, breasts that have lost volume after childbearing or weight loss or one breast is noticeable smaller than the other.

Procedure:
Incisions can be made in one of three places; incision hidden below the breast, through the arm pit or the peri areolar (nipple incision around the lower part of the areola). These are small incisions.

The surgeon creates a pocket either directly underneath the breast tissue or under the chest wall muscle and then a breast implant is inserted in the pocket and the incision is closed. The most commonly used are saline implants.

Recovery:
Following the surgery detailed instructions are given to the patient as to postoperative care and activities. The patient goes home with a light dressing and support bra. There will be some postoperative pain usually lasting a few days that is easily controlled with medication. Light activities may be resumed in a week to ten days. All information regarding the implants is discussed with the patient at the time of the initial consultation.
